Church of Scientology & Community Centre of Dublin newsletter header

Since opening in October 2017, the Church of Scientology & Community Centre of Dublin has welcomed more than 500,000 guests through its doors, becoming a go-to place for community, charity and cultural events, life-improvement and spiritual development courses, workshops and services.

Our volunteers work together with many like-minded organisations, community leaders, activists, faith representatives and officials, who share our purpose to improve conditions - on a personal and community level.

Here is a glimpse of some of our recent community outreach activities.

'SOUNDS OF HARMONY' INTERFAITH CONCERT

In recognition of World Interfaith Harmony Week more than 100 guests representing Christian denominations, Islam, Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism and Scientology gathered to enjoy the Sounds of Harmony concert and interfaith prayers for peace and harmony in the world and between all faiths.

“I love this event! Many different paths lead us the same way. Such events need to happen more in Ireland. We need to have this auditorium filled for such a powerful message - of harmony, mutual understanding and trusting each other under the banner of interfaith."

Community Group Founder

“Religion is hope. And hope is the new religion. It drives us every day. Interfaith is an exchange of good things. I learned a lot about other cultures and religions today."

Guest

“This is my first time here and I am fascinated by the similarities of our views and your philosophy. It is lovely to see so much harmony between such diverse groups. For me, interfaith is the way ahead. We need to work towards the goal of being united in diversity."

PSYCHIATRY: AN INDUSTRY OF DEATH EXHIBITION

Presented by the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), the Psychiatry: An Industry of Death travelling exhibition aims to expose human rights violations and historic abuses in the field of mental health.

Earlier this year the exhibition visited Dublin and was opened with passionate and personal speeches by a human rights activist, a psychiatric abuse survivor, and an author and senior social worker.

Nearly 1,200 toured the exhibition, with many reporting experiences with psychiatric abuse - either personally or through a loved one. Numerous visitors described the exhibition as "shocking", "eye-opening" and "unsettling".

Over 300 volunteer hours were put in by our team to support this initiative.

“I always knew that the industry was inhumane but the extent of it is far more unsettling and eye opening.”

Visitor

“I was already somewhat aware of this subject but I knew little details. Here I see facts, names, dates. The details about Hitler and the background in Germany is vital and overlooked. I visited Auschwitz last year and this panel was eye opening for me. The information about the children is also very important. I had no idea.”

Civil Servant

“I have lived through psychiatric abuse and I know what it is. I couldn’t continue my work as a social worker as I knew I was sending those kids to psychiatrists. I just had to stop. I am still struggling myself and often I am afraid to speak out but I feel I have to.”

SCIENTOLOGY VOLUNTEER MINISTER "HELP" AWARDS

The sixth edition of the HELP Awards brought volunteers, community leaders, human-rights advocates and changemakers together at the Church of Scientology & Community Centre of Dublin. Honourees were recognised for volunteer work in the community spanning cultural inclusion, poverty relief, healthcare, charitable actions and real mental-health support.

“What an event! It made me so emotional when my award was read out. I really felt it! What you do here is something else – you have all religions, all walks of life, all people and all are treated equally! The Volunteer Minister programme is great for the community to learn tools to help, despite different religions."

Award recipient

“I truly appreciate you and your constant support. I was in a tough spot in my life recently and this award came so timely. Your help and support really matters to me."

Award recipient

“The openness and interactivity of this event struck me. When likeminded people come together, it creates energy. The Volunteer Minister programme aligns perfectly with my capabilities.”
